BMW R12 nineTは、ノーマルでも十分に美しいデザインを持つ一台。
しかし、細部を見直していくことで、その魅力はさらに際立ちます。

今回ご依頼いただいた車両は、“派手にする”のではなく、不要なものを削ぎ落とし、各パーツの存在感を引き立てるカスタムをテーマに製作しました。
一つひとつのパーツは小さな変更ですが、完成した姿はまるで別の車両。
今回はその内容をご紹介します。

The BMW R12 nineT is already a beautifully designed bike even in its stock form. But by revisiting the details, its appeal really stands out even more.

The bike we were asked to work on this time was built with the theme of customizing not to make it flashy, but to strip away the unnecessary and highlight the presence of each part. Each modification is small, but the finished bike looks like a completely different machine.

This time, we’re going to show you what we did.

サイドアームナンバーホルダーでリアビューを一新
Refresh the rear view with a side-arm number holder

まず取り付けたのは、Rizoma製サイドアームナンバーホルダー。
アーム本体はアルミフル削りで他を圧倒する製品です。

First, I installed the Rizoma side arm number holder. The arm itself is fully machined from aluminum and is a product that stands out from the rest.

ナンバープレートベースは二種類
左　日本ナンバー規格
右　海外ナンバー規格
とても親切です！
There are two types of license plate bases:
Left: Japanese plate standard
Right: Overseas plate standard
Very convenient!

フェンダーレスキットも同梱されているため、リア周りは非常にスッキリした印象になります。

Since the fender-less kit is also included, the back looks really clean.

純正ではどうしてもリアフェンダーの存在感が大きくなりますが、サイドマウント化することで車体全体のシルエットが軽くなり、UNIT製マフラーの造形美がより際立つようになりました。

With the stock setup, the rear fender definitely stands out a lot, but by switching to a side mount, the overall silhouette of the bike feels lighter, and the design beauty of the UNIT-made muffler really pops.

一方で、このキットは簡単に付くわけではありません。
フェンダーレス化に伴い、

• ナンバー灯
• ウインカー
• 各種ハーネス
  これらの配線スペースが非常にタイトになります。
  
  By the way, this kit isn’t exactly easy to install.
  With the fender-less conversion,
  ・the wiring space for the license plate light,
  ・turn signals,
  ・various harnesses
  becomes really tight.

そのため、配線の取り回しを工夫しながら、見えない部分まで丁寧に仕上げています。
カスタムは「付けばいい」ではなく、長く安心して乗れることも大切な品質です。

So, we carefully finish even the parts you can’t see, while being creative with the wiring layout. Custom work isn’t just about making it fit; it’s also about quality that lets you ride with peace of mind for a long time.

続いて装着したのは、Rizoma製 CLUBウインカー。
Next up, I installed the Rizoma CLUB turn signals.

純正ウインカーと比較すると、そのサイズは驚くほどコンパクト。
しかし、小さいから存在感がなくなるのではありません。
むしろ余計な主張を抑えることで、
車体そのもののデザインラインがより美しく浮かび上がります。
例えるなら…
額縁を細くすることで、一枚の絵がより大きく、美しく見えるような感覚。
主役はウインカーではなく、BMW R12 nineTという車両そのもの。
その魅力を引き立てる名脇役です。
Compared to the stock turn signals, their size is surprisingly compact. But just because they’re small doesn’t mean they disappear. On the contrary, by holding back unnecessary flashiness, the design lines of the bike itself stand out even more beautifully. To put it another way… it’s like narrowing the frame of a picture so the artwork looks bigger and more stunning. The main star isn’t the turn signals, it’s the BMW R12 nineT itself. These are the perfect supporting actors to highlight its charm.

さらにサイズは小さいながらも発光性能は非常に優秀。
視認性も高く、安全性とデザインを高いレベルで両立しています。
Even though it’s smaller in size, its luminous performance is excellent. It also has high visibility, balancing safety and design at a high level.

シンプルだからこそ際立つヘルメットホルダー
A helmet holder that stands out precisely because it’s simple

ヘルメットホルダーはFixe Design製を選択。
一見すると非常にシンプル。
ですが、このシンプルさこそが最大の魅力です。
・削り出しアルミならではのエッジ感。
・アルマイトの質感。
・開閉時のしっかりとした操作感。
写真では伝えきれない”機械としての気持ち良さ”があります。
派手さはありませんが、
「触れるたびに満足できる。」
そんな所有感を与えてくれるパーツです。
BMWというプレミアムな車両だからこそ、この質感がよく似合います。
I chose a Fixe Design helmet holder. At first glance, it looks very simple. But this simplicity is its biggest charm.
・The sharp edges unique to machined aluminum.
・The texture of the anodized finish.
・The solid feel when opening and closing it.
There’s a kind of mechanical satisfaction that photos just can’t convey. It’s not flashy, but it’s a part that gives you a sense of ownership where “every time you touch it, it feels satisfying.” This quality especially suits a premium vehicle like a BMW.

レーシングマフラーステーを装着するために、専用カラーを製作

今回、UNIT製マフラーの魅力をさらに引き出すため、BMW純正のタンデムステップブラケットを取り外し、レーシングマフラーステーへ変更しました。
純正ステーはタンデムステップ用ブラケットと一体構造になっているため、リア周りを軽快に仕上げても、このブラケットが視覚的なボリュームとなり、せっかくのマフラーやサイドアームナンバーの存在感を打ち消してしまいます。
そこで！レーシングタイプのマフラーステーを採用。
しかし、このステーはダウンタイプのマフラーを前提とした設計だったため、そのままではUNIT製マフラーとの位置関係が合いませんでした。
そこでTWJでは、
This time, in order to further bring out the appeal of the UNIT muffler, we removed the BMW genuine tandem step bracket and replaced it with a racing muffler stay. Since the genuine stay is integrated with the tandem step bracket, even if you make the rear look lighter, this bracket adds visual bulk and diminishes the presence of the muffler and side arm number. So! We went with a racing-type muffler stay. However, since this stay was designed for down-type mufflers, the positioning didn’t match with the UNIT muffler as it was.

専用オフセットカラーを設計・製作。

アルミ削り出しで製作し、アルマイト処理まで施すことで、機能だけではなく見た目の完成度にもこだわりました。
市販品をそのまま取り付けるだけでは終わらせない。
車両に合わせて必要な部品を製作できるのも、TWJならではの強みです。

完成した一台

完成したBMW R12 nineTを眺めると、「どこを変えたの？」と思う方もいるかもしれません。
ですが、その違和感のなさこそ、このカスタムの成功だと考えています。
一つひとつは決して派手なパーツではありません。
しかし、

• リア周りを軽くする
• マフラーを主役にする
• 灯火類を小型化する
• 質感の高いパーツを選ぶ
• 必要な部品は自ら製作する

これらを積み重ねることで、車両全体の完成度は大きく変わります。
BMW R12 nineT本来の美しさを残しながら、さらに洗練された一台へ。

When looking at the completed BMW R12 nineT, some people might think, ‘What exactly did you change?’ However, it is precisely this lack of obvious alterations that I believe makes this customization a success. None of the individual parts are particularly flashy. However, by doing the following:

• Lightening the rear end
• Making the exhaust the centerpiece
• Downsizing the lights
• Choosing high-quality parts
• Fabricating necessary components myself

By combining these steps, the overall quality of the bike changes significantly. While retaining the original beauty of the BMW R12 nineT, it transforms into an even more refined machine. TWJ will continue to ‘just parts’
